Success Stories
MAC Scholars are a distinguished group of people who work in various fields of employment. These men and women not only succeeded academically, but are leading successful lives in McLennan County and throughout the nation.
More than 30 MAC Scholarship recipients have begun their professional careers in McLennan County after obtaining their degrees. These scholars now give back to the community that gave to them by getting involved in the greater Waco area.
Jamie Villareal
Jamie was a MAC recipient in 1997 and graduated from Baylor University. He was part of the first group to receive the MAC grant in 1995 and also received the scholarship to continue on. He is now a government teacher at University High School.
Rusty Haferkamp
Rusty received the MAC grant in 1995 and went on to graduate from TSTC on the Dean’s Honor Roll. He has since obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business and is currently an officer at Central National Bank where he is the Director of Technology.
Michelle Diaz
Michelle was a MAC grant recipient and went on to receive one of two Baylor scholarships MAC students are eligible for each year. In 2012, she received her B.B.A. in Management. Michelle is now currently employed at Baylor University as the MCC Transfer Admissions Counselor.
Cody Sulak
Cody received one of the MAC Program’s Baylor scholarships and graduated from Baylor with an Accounting degree. He is now a CPA at Pattillo, Brown & Hill, L.L.P. in Waco, Texas.
