Success Stories
MAC Scholars are a distinguished group of people who work in various fields of employment. These men and women not only succeeded academically, but are leading successful lives in McLennan County and throughout the nation.
More than 30 MAC Scholarship recipients have began their professional careers in McLennan County after obtaining their degrees. These scholars now give back to the community that gave to them by getting involved in the greater Waco area.
Keith Reed
Keith is a graduate of West High School. He works as an insurance agent with New York Life in Waco and is a member of the Waco Young Professionals. He is also a Waco Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. He volunteers with Waco Family YMCA as a basketball and golf coach and is a member of First Baptist Church Woodway.
Larry Salazar
Larry is a 1999 graduate of Connally High School. He completed a degree in political science at the University of North Texas (UNT) in 2003. Larry obtained a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from UNT in 2005 and is currently pursuing a doctorate in political science there. Larry is certified to teach high school history and is a government instructor at McLennan Community College.
Deserea Morgan
Deserea is a graduate of McGregor High School and earned a Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She works at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) in Waco.
Telly Walthall
A La Vega High School alum, Telly graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Stephen F. Austin University. Telly is a sixth grade English and social studies teacher at Connally Intermediate.
