Today’s Action Tomorrow's Leaders Hosts LeadershipPlenty® Training Program and Process Forum
Training Program
The Waco Foundation staff and Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders (“TATL”), recently co-hosted Suzanne Morse, Director of Civic Change Inc., and two of her colleagues for a two-and-a-half day LeadershipPlenty® “Train the Trainers” workshop. The event was attended by 30 local professionals who are now certified as facilitators to deliver the LeadershipPlenty® curriculum throughout the community.
“This program is a very important step in achieving one of Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders goals,” said Nicole Wynter, Director of Special Projects for Waco Foundation. “The Committee’s vision is to make certain that Waco has a diverse pool of trained individuals who can provide community and civic leadership in the future.”
The LeadershipPlenty® program covered topics on how to plan and manage meetings, negotiate and develop consensus, establish partnerships, resolve conflict, and measure effectiveness across sectors. This nine-module program has been evaluated and repeatedly proven to improve participant skills and knowledge in developing civic partnerships, addressing community development problems, and effectively communicating with diverse constituencies.
Process Forum
On June 20, Waco Foundation staff members, Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders’ Steering Committee members and the newly-trained facilitators met for a Process Forum. The forum was a time for the facilitators to reconnect after the training and debrief.
The Process Forum attendees discussed the best future steps for the facilitation process of LeadershipPlenty® training to the community, as well as the identification of prospective candidates for training.
The TATL Steering Committee has formed a sub-committee committed to recruiting these candidates for one or multiple pilot training classes beginning in the fall.
This is an exciting time as TATL looks for ways to impact the greater Waco community and guide local leaders.
