Waco Foundation Releases Two Reports
Waco Foundation recently engaged two analysts to help us assess the state of our local nonprofit sector and begin the process of analyzing the impact the economic downturn and subsequent cuts in government funding may have on that sector. The first round of those findings is now available.
The first report, an Economic Profile, provides an overview of McLennan County’s Nonprofit sector by type, with volunteer and charitable giving estimates, as well as sector employment and compensation values.
Secondly, concerned about the impact budget cuts may have on our community, we solicited the input of area service providers to determine what economic challenges they were beginning to face as a result of diminished funding. The Funding Profile summarizes the results of that survey. It is in no way reflective of the entire sector’s economic challenges, but does alert us to some issues that we need to keep track of. We hope these two pieces will prove useful to you, as you engage various segments of the community, in discussions about the role of our local nonprofit sector and its ability to service some of our neediest populations.
The reports were released in conjunction with a training workshop the Foundation hosted, with the help of public affairs consultant Jason Sabo, educating attendees about the 2011 Texas Legislative Session and basics of risk free advocacy.
