Our Work

The Waco Foundation has helped shape and support McLennan County since 1958. We have given more than $41,446,543 to nonprofits over the last 52 years but we provide the community with more than just grant funding. The Foundation strategically and purposefully supports community improvement and quality of life for the residents of McLennan County. We do this through:

  • The MAC Scholarship Programwhich annually supports 600 high school seniors eligible for tuition assistance and provides financial aid information to over 2,250 high school seniors and parents each year.
  • The SmartBabies Initiative will embark on a long-range comprehensive plan that seeks to implement positive change in the most at-risk-areas in McLennan County by bringing community awareness about the importance of early childhood education, reaching out to parents and other systems that affect families and serving as a liaison between parents and schools.
  • Funding of specific community projects, supported by the entire community and overseen by the Waco Foundation Board of Trustees.
  • Co-sponsorship of The Greater Waco Community Education Alliance, which aligns various stakeholder groups around the importance of holistically and systemically educating and supporting children in McLennan County.
  • Leadership development, which aims to provide ample opportunities and training to support the growth of citizen leaders in the community.
  • Building Better Boards, a new initiative providing training sessions to equip nonprofit boards with strong, capable and well trained board members to deal with the tough challenges.
