Mission
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives and future of the people who live in Waco and McLennan County through grant making, promotion of community philanthropy, and support of the not-for-profit sector.
History
Waco Foundation is a non-profit community foundation trust established to receive gifts, bequests, and donations to be administered for the benefit of the people of Waco and McLennan County. The Foundation was established in 1958 with $30,000 from Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Parrott, who bequeathed an additional $311,000 in 1974. Since then several additional contributions have been received, including bequests of $14 million from Stephen Goldstein in 1996 and $6.5 million from Lyle Kay Masterson in 2006.
Grant Making
Grants are awarded twice a year from unrestricted and field of interest funds to deserving 501(c)(3) nonprofits whose services benefit the citizens of McLennan County.
Capacity Building Program
The Capacity Building Program assists nonprofit organizations in McLennan County by supporting them in the intentional investment of time, thought, resources, and effort so that they can improve leadership, management, fiscal responsibility, skills, procedures, fundraising, and human resources in order to increase impact and sustainability.
MAC Scholarship Program
Started in 1995, the MAC Scholarship Program provides tuition to deserving graduates of McLennan County high schools. |
