What exactly is the MAC program?
The MAC Grant Program facilitates scholarship funds for fees, and tuition to MCC or TSTC for McLennan County public high school graduates. [ top ]
How much will a student receive?
If the student does not qualify for other funding, approximately $750.00 a semester will be paid directly to the school. [ top ]
How does one qualify for the grant?
To qualify for the MAC Grant a student must be a senior at a McLennan County high school, must reside in the county, must apply for federal financial aid by submitting the FAFSA application form by May 1st of their senior year, must demonstrate need (family income under $50,000), and must not receive any other financial aid that covers fees, and tuition. What is the objective of this program?
It is anticipated that the financial incentive of this program will lower the dropout rates, increase the number of county students attending MCC and TSTC, improve employability of county youth, offer hope to many who have lost it, and provide a model of the private sector helping people help themselves. How may a student continue the MAC grant?
A student will remain eligible for four semesters by attending school full-time and remaining in good academic standing. A student placed on financial aid suspension looses eligibility for the MAC Program. [top]
Who will administer this program?
Robbie Stabeno is the MAC Grant director. She works with students at the information centers, and with the counselors at all the high schools in the county. She is available in workshops with seniors and parents during January and February and also by appointment at the Waco Foundation to provide help in completing the FAFSA. [top]
How will the program work?
Information Centers have been established at University and Waco High to provide financial aid information. Other county High Schools have information in the counselors office. The program helps generate federal funds and other scholarships for county students. [top]
Is this too good to be true?
We plan to offer the grant to all students that fit the scholarship guidelines. Needy county public high school graduates with a desire to go to college and the initiative to persevere our application process will receive aid. [top]
